talkSPORT betting tips – Best golf bets and expert advice for The CJ Cup Byron Nelson
Newly crowned US PGA champion Aaron Rai has decided to step back from this week’s CJ Cup Byron Nelson following his three-shot victory at Aronimink on Sunday, so most eyes will be on defending champion Scottie Scheffler at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas.
The world number one is hot favourite after his eight-shot victory last year, when he tore the course apart with a winning score of 31-under par.
It should be a straightforward assignment for PGA Tour players and plenty of competitors will have high hopes of pushing Scheffler all the way.

The CJ Cup Byron Nelson Tips
Course form a big plus for Spieth
Jordan Spieth has not tasted a PGA Tour success since the RBC Heritage in 2022, but there have been signs that the three-time Major winner is coming to the boil and this may be the week he gets back in the winner’s circle.
Playing in his home state should give Spieth an extra boost, particularly as he has form figures of 9-2-MC-4 from his four previous visits to TPC Craig Ranch.
He also fired in a closing 62 last year, which was the second-best round of the week.
Spieth’s 18th-place finish at the PGA Championship was encouraging as he attempted to complete the career Grand Slam.
It was his sixth top-20 finish in his last 10 outings, and with many of the big names giving this one a swerve, he could emerge as the cream of the crop.
Bezuidenhout can flourish on the greens
In a potentially low-scoring tournament, it will be essential for the winner to perform well on the Craig Ranch greens, and that should point to a big week for Christiaan Bezuidenhout.
The South African stands seventh in the PGA Tour’s strokes-gained: putting statistics and while he has not played in this tournament in the last couple of years, he does have decent course form with a 12th in 2022 and 23rd the following year.
Recent performances have also been encouraging as he was 17th at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside compatriot Erik van Rooyen and then tied four seventh at the low-grade Myrtle Beach Classic.
He shot a Sunday 67 at Aronimink last week for a share of 35th spot and he can make a bold bid for glory in Texas.
Last year’s finish should encourage Hubbard
Mark Hubbard has had a 2026 littered with weekends off but he bounced back well in his last outing when he finished second at Myrtle Beach behind Brandt Snedeker, so his confidence has received a welcome boost.
That lift comes as he prepares to tackle a course where he finished fifth last year, so that coincidence could help the Colorado-born competitor to at least get in the places again at a big price.
