Storm sign 2-time All-Star center Stefanie Dolson
The Seattle Storm have experienced sort of a roster exodus this offseason with the departures of Nneka Ogwumike, Skylar Diggins, Gabby Williams and Erica Wheeler. Ogwumike and Wheeler left for the Sparks, Diggins signed with the Chicago Sky and Williams is meeting with other interested teams. But the Storm have made a couple of free agency moves, including the signing of veteran center Stefanie Dolson, as per WNBA insider Khristina Williams.
Stefanie Dolson joins the Storm on the heels of their first free agency move this offseason in the signing of veteran guard Natisha Hiedeman. Promising young center Ezi Magbegor is expected back as the Storm tendered a core qualifying offer before the free agency period began, thus ensuring themselves exclusive negotiating rights.
Dolson spent the past two years with the Washington Mystics after signing a two-year contract ahead of the 2024 season. This past year, she appeared in 43 out of 44 games for the Mystics, including four starts, at a little over 15 minutes per game.
She averaged 3.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists with splits of 42.3 percent shooting from the field, 36 percent shooting from the 3-point line and 70 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
The No. 6 overall pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft, Dolson began her career with the Mystics. She played the first three seasons of her career with the Mystics before joining the Chicago Sky. Dolson was a key reserve for the Sky during their 2021 championship run.
With Magbegor eventually expected back in the fold, Dolson figures to be a veteran backup behind Magbegor and potential franchise cornerstone Dominique Malonga.
