Stephen A. Smith challenges Jaylen Brown after ‘unethical’ call-out
The ongoing beef between Jaylen Brown and Stephen A. Smith has escalated, as the ESPN personality has challenged the Boston Celtics star after being called out for his “unethical” reporting.
The First Take analyst took to social media to accept Brown’s challenge. He isn’t backing down, and he’s ready to end the beef with the Celtics star, who is “getting on my last d**n nerve.”

“He’s so full of s**t I wanna throw up,” Smith said. “We’re unethical because we’re telling you how your comments came across. No wonder your a*s is in France, you can’t deal with the heat in America and justify the way that you’ve acted since you got bounced out of the playoffs.
“Nobody’s done anything to you, Jaylen Brown. You see, ladies and gentlemen, I shouldn’t even be upset, because this should be an indication to you about how small people can become. I’m unethical. I’m the leader. ESPN, the entire network, with all the love the network shows you, we’re unethical and I’m the leader. I didn’t know you would come across as that soft, bro. You wanna talk about accountability and all of that other show, fine, dog, you’re welcome to come on the show,” he continued.
Smith then opened the door for Brown to enter his studio, promising he’d “show you what a studio’s supposed to look like.” He told Brown to “name the time” for their altercation. However, he wants it to do it on his set, not in Brown’s “dungeon.”
“I’ll be waiting,” Smith promised. “See you when I see you.”
Why Jaylen Brown called ESPN, Stephen A. Smith “unethical”

While at an event in Cannes, Brown took aim at Smith. He didn’t like how Smith took issue with Brown’s assessment of the 2025-26 NBA season, which ended in a first-round playoff exit, calling it his “favorite.”
“The leader behind that was ESPN. ESPN is unethical. Stephen A Smith is the head and face of that,” he claimed. “The organization, the players, they were all in agreement. They all knew what I meant by that.”
He elaborated that the Celtics team was “basically salary dumped,” and yet, they made the playoffs. Still, the team blew a 3-1 lead to the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the playoffs. The Sixers would go on to get swept by the eventual champions, the New York Knicks.
