Stefon Diggs blowing Commanders’ Dan Quinn away with ‘fire.’ Will Diggs resurrect Jayden Daniels?

The Washington Commanders are just over a week from kicking off the 2026 NFL season. The Commanders have had a relatively uninspiring offseason, headlined by the recent addition of former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs, among other moves.

Recently, Commanders head coach Dan Quinn gave his positive review of Diggs’ time in Washington so far.

“I knew he was a competitor. I didn’t know how good the fire was,” said Quinn, per Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic on X, formerly Twitter.

He also noted that Diggs is “better beating man than I thought,” per John Keim of ESPN.

Diggs had a resurgent year last season with the Patriots, becoming the number one wide receiver on a team that made the Super Bowl. The Patriots then released Diggs at the end of the year, already knowing they had their eyes set on AJ Brown, whom they eventually acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Now, Diggs is in Washington, where he will look to help quarterback Jayden Daniels bounce back after an injury-riddled 2025 season. The Commanders as a whole were a disaster in 2025, taking a massive step back after their 2024 shocking run to the NFC Championship Game. Diggs’ veteran experience, as well as his still-elite athleticism and hands, should play a big role in helping Daniels regain his form from his rookie season.

Still, Washington will be battling uphill, with injuries already starting to affect the team throughout the preseason.

In any case, the Commanders are slated to kick off their new season on September 13 with a tough road game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
