Spurs’ De’Aaron Fox confirms 1 truth about Victor Wembanyama after tying Thunder series

When De’Aaron Fox was traded to the San Antonio Spurs via a three-team deal in the middle of the season in 2025, he knew he finally had a chance to compete for a title after a string of disappointments with the Sacramento Kings.

Fox arrived in the second year of Victor Wembanyama, and he quickly saw the brilliance and intellect of the 22-year-old superstar, further strengthening his belief that the Spurs were building something special.

Now, they are just two wins away from entering the NBA Finals after beating the Oklahoma City Thunder, 103-82, in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals at Frost Bank Center on Sunday, tying the best-of-seven series at 2-2.

Once again, Wembanyama took charge with a game-high 33 points, eight rebounds, five assists, two steals, and three blocks.

De’Aaron Fox heaped praise on the 7-foot-4 pillar, while also confirming a specific idiosyncrasy of his young teammate.

Wembanyama is known to avoid blue light as part of his postgame routine to not disrupt his sleep cycle. Blue light is known to be harmful because it causes eye strain and suppresses melatonin.

The two-time All-Star has taken a distinctive approach in his career, including living for several days in a monastery in China to help him strengthen his mind and spirit. He has also made reading a book a part of his pregame habit.

The 28-year-old Fox has been nothing but impressed with Wembanyama’s unique process.

“He truly loves the game. He truly takes care of his body. Out of all the things he does with the basketball, he’s even better as a person,” added the veteran guard.
