UFC’s Max Holloway brutally blasts Conor McGregor for post-match comments

Last month at UFC 329 on Jul. 11, 2026, Conor McGregor made his much-awaited MMA return. Away from the sport for nearly five years and embroiled in several controversies, McGregor made his return against Max Holloway.

However, their highly-anticipated fight lasted just over 1 minute before McGregor had to forfeit. Seconds into the fight, McGregor injured his ACL and had to be ruled out, leading to Holloway being declared the winner. After the fight and McGregor’s loss, “The Notorious One” addressed the bout on social media and claimed that he was prepared to give Holloway a “generational beating.”

However, Holloway did not take the comments lightly. Speaking on his YouTube channel (via MMA Fighting), the 34-year-old opened up and reflected on McGregor’s comments. “The fight went the way it went. I feel bad for the fans. It’s just crazy for the dude to be talking about, ‘It was slippery because of the dry ice’ or whatever.

“I don’t know what he’s talking about because I didn’t fall. Him talking about this ‘generational beating’ — the dude is delusional. To me, he felt slow in there. He felt slow; he looked old. If there was going to be a generational beating, it wasn’t going to be on his end, I’ll tell you that much. It wasn’t going to be coming from his side,” Holloway added.

“At the end of the day, I feel bad for the fans. It was a big event; a lot of people spent a lot of money. Shoutout to them for the support, but I had the man weak in the knees from the beginning, I guess,” he finished.

McGregor recently underwent ACL surgery and is currently recovering from the injury. While, as of now, there are no updates on his return, McGregor is expected to have his last UFC fight in 2027 and then join BKFC.
