Spencer Jones gets Yankees’ clubhouse support amid potential call-up
The New York Yankees have been making Spencer Jones wait on a potential call-up, but it looks like the time might be coming for him in the wake of Jasson Dominguez’s injury. The Yankees haven’t made a decision on his fate yet, but it looks like one of New York’s top prospects has the attention of his potential teammates and manager, according to SNY Yankees via Twitter, formerly X.

Jones could add even more power to a Yankees lineup that already sits first in the majors with 61. The outfielder owns a .258/.366/.592 slash line with 11 home runs and 41 RBIs in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and seems like the logical option to replace Dominguez as the organization’s top-ranked outfield prospect.
It isn’t just Aaron Boone who believes Jones could be nearing an MLB debut. Teammates who shared a clubhouse with him at Spring Training also liked what they saw, including infielder Ryan McMahon.
“I’m a big fan of Spencer’s…he can do a lot of good things on the baseball field,” McMahon raved.
If Jones does get the call and plays well, there’s an argument for replacing Dominguez once he returns from the injury. Dominguez is hitting just .200 with a single home run in 30 at-bats this season as the Yankees’ designated hitter, but was starting to play well before his injury.
Dominguez had a scary crash into the outfield wall when getting the start in the field for Thursday’s game. He is currently in concussion protocol and is also getting tests done on his left shoulder.
