Sophie Cunningham baffled by Angel Reese taunting ex Jalen Duren in matchup vs. current BF Wendell Carter Jr.

Sophie Cunningham has officially entered the conversation surrounding Angel Reese, Jalen Duren and Wendell Carter Jr, per TheNYPost.

During Tuesday’s episode of the “Show Me Something” podcast, Cunningham reacted to Reese reposting videos of Carter dunking on Duren during the Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons playoff series.

“Something had to have happened for [Reese] to keep, I don’t know, wanting to embarrass him in some way,” Cunningham said.

Her co-host, West Wilson, argued maybe nothing happened between Reese and Duren before they split.

“Then move on, worry about current boyfriend,” Sophie Cunningham fired back.

The clips quickly spread across NBA social media because Carter and Duren spent parts of the series guarding each other. Fans online jokingly called it an “NBA playoffs love triangle,” especially after Reese amplified the highlights on Instagram.

Reese and Duren rumors fueled online reaction

Rumors linking Reese and Duren surfaced during the summer of 2024 after the pair posted videos from what appeared to be the same vacation spot. Neither publicly confirmed a relationship.

Wilson also suggested the online attention may have impacted Duren’s play during the postseason.

“He’s in his head,” Wilson said.

Duren averaged 19.5 points during the regular season, but that number dropped to 10.6 points across eight playoff games. Detroit still stormed back from a 3-1 deficit to advance.

Reese and Carter have largely kept their relationship private despite the recent viral attention.
