Skip Bayless makes bizarre LeBron James, Scottie Pippen comp out of nowhere
It’s no secret that Skip Bayless isn’t exactly a fan of LeBron James, which is being disproportionately charitable. He has said anything and everything under the sun to cut James down to size.
However, nobody expected him to compare James to Scottie Pippen. He took to social media to explain why James reminded him of Pippen when he was covering the Bulls dynasty.
“I covered ’98 Bulls as Chi Trib columnist. LeBron reminds me of Pippen: shaky intangibles, flimsy mental toughness. Pippen was a good No. 2 but struggled in 4th qs without MJ. G3 ’94; quit. At Utah G6 ’98: MJ 45 of Bulls’ 87 plus game-winner, Pip 8. MJ: GREATEST EVER CLUTCH GENE.”
Pippen was the template for the point forward of his area. A player who can score, defend, and facilitate over the offense when needed. Although he was considered a complementary player to Michael Jordan, he still stood out.
As a result, Pippen became one of the all-time greatest players on the 50th-anniversary and 7th-anniversary teams and was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010.
Not to mention winning six NBA championships with the Bulls as part of one of the greatest dynasties in all of sports.
James has taken that role to a whole new level with his explosive athleticism. He is a trifecta of scoring, defending, and playmaking, with that added physicality that enables him to carry on past age 40.
During his career, Pippen averaged 16.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 5.2 assists. Meanwhile, James has a career average of 27.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game.
