Seahawks’ potential ownership transaction will be voted on at end of August

The Seattle Seahawks feel like they are on top of the NFL right now. Seattle is coming off their Super Bowl victory and still looks like one of the best teams in the NFL ahead of the regular season. One NFL insider just dropped a huge update on the potential sale of the team just weeks before the start of training camp.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed that NFL owners will vote on the potential sale of the franchise in late August.

“Date officially set: The league notified teams today that there will be a special one-day meeting on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 26 in Atlanta,” Schefter wrote. “It’s expected that there then will be vote on the Seattle Seahawks’ ownership transaction, pending the Finance Committee review. There will also be an update on football and business matters related to the upcoming season.”

A group led by 49ers partner Vinod Khosla recent agreed to purchase the Seahawks for $9.6 billion. That is a record sale for any NFL franchise, though it pales in comparison to the $10 billion price tag insiders thought the team might fetch.

At least 24 NFL owners need to approve the sale before it can be finalized.

Don’t worry Seahawks fans, the team probably won’t go anywhere with a new ownership group. It is possible that the new owners explore a new stadium outside of Seattle. But Lumen Field is reportedly in great condition, which would make any new stadium proposal quite shocking.

It will be exciting to see whether or not this sale becomes official later next month.
