The Philadelphia Eagles recently did as many expected by trading wide receiver AJ Brown to the New England Patriots. The deal brings an end to what was a tumultuous saga for Brown in Philadelphia, one defined by a lack of targets, public callouts, but also a Super Bowl championship win.

Now, Eagles wide receiver Saquon Barkley has given his candid reaction to the deal.

“The show goes on,” said Barkley, per Ashlyn Sullivan of NBC Sports Philadelphia on X, formerly Twitter.

Barkley and Brown both had disappointing seasons, along with quarterback Jalen Hurts, for the Eagles in 2025, as the offense took a major step back on the heels of the team’s Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024-25.

Brown was bizarrely not featured as often as many would expect for a player of his talents in the Eagles’ offense, and this time, instead of reading a book on the sidelines, he opted to air his grievances with the team on social media, which predictably caused a firestorm of reactions from all over the sports world.

Brown finally got his wish for more targets in the Eagles’ playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers, but responded by making multiple crucial drops, including one late in the fourth quarter, drawing a chorus of boos from the home fans in attendance at Lincoln Financial Field and all but cementing the fact that he would be headed to a new home this offseason.

That home is New England, where Brown will look to help fill the void left when the Patriots released Stefon Diggs earlier this offseason.

Meanwhile, the Eagles will look to soldier on with some new receivers, including draft pick Makai Lemon, heading into next season.
