The Colorado Rockies picked up an impressive 8-6 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Friday. Ezequiel Tovar was the star for Colorado. His efforts Friday included two home runs, and four RBIs.

He had a historic night on Friday. Tovar’s home runs included a walk-off, and he also stole home plate.

“No one else in MLB history has done all of that in the same game,” the X account OptaSTATS posted.

The Rockies infielder was thrilled after the game. He had been struggling at the plate lately.

“I’m not a robot,” Tovar said through an interpreter, per MLB.com. “It’s going to eat at me sometimes when I’m not executing the way I want. It’s going to hurt me a little. But I understand that no matter what happens, I’ve got to trust in God that things are going to come.”

This season, Tovar is hitting at a .220 batting average with four home runs.

Tovar has been working on his swing this season. Colorado manager Warren Schaeffer said the young infielder is committed to being better.

“The hard work that he’s been putting in and the adjustments that he’s been making, that’s the big deal,” said Schaeffer. “The emotions are just a separate thing, but he looks more comfortable at the plate in his approach.”

Tovar is known for his defense. He won a Gold Glove Award in 2024. It is his offense where he sees room for improvement.

“I’m not always focused on the results,” he said. “I know that it’s a whole process. The process is fine as long as I’m working hard and doing everything I can do in practice. The results will show when you can keep that progression. So, I always have to keep my head up high, no matter what, and the results are going to come.

“They’re starting to come.”

The Rockies are going through another tough campaign. Following the win Friday, Colorado improved to 21-37 on the season.

Colorado plays the Giants again on Saturday. The Rockies have lost eight of their last 10 games.
