Red Sox, Twins benches clear after heated moment
Willson Contreras has already enjoyed a successful MLB career, but when people reflect on his legacy years from now, they will inevitably bring up all the tense exchanges he had. The Boston Red Sox first baseman just gave them another one to add to the list. He collided with Minnesota Twins catcher and former Chicago Cubs teammate Victor Caratini while trying to score the game-tying run in the fourth inning. Words were exchanged and players flooded the home plate area.
Caratini seemed to be calmly speaking his mind after absorbing hard contact from the 240-pound Contreras, but the dugouts and bullpens cleared out nonetheless. While it is unclear what was said, the two athletes clearly had differing viewpoints about the play in question.

Because the throw beat Contreras by a mile, fans will argue that he did not need to barrel his way into home. Red Sox Nation will fire back, however, and point out that Caratini appeared to be blocking the dish. In other words, a straightforward admission of guilt is probably not coming. Hopefully, there is no bad blood between the two ballplayers.
