Raptors star Scottie Barnes’ priceless reaction to RJ Barrett’s OT game-winner
The Toronto Raptors are alive! Facing elimination in Game 6 of their first-round series against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Toronto channeled some of the energy from their 2019 championship run. RJ Barrett hit a high-arcing three that bounced around before going in the rim to win the game for Toronto. Sounds oddly familiar, right?
Now, the Raptors are one win away from advancing to the second round. All they need to do is win one game in Cleveland. For now, though, the players are celebrating Barrett’s incredible shot. All-Star forward Scottie Barnes, who delivered the pass to Barrett, is incredibly proud of his teammate.
“Couldn’t be more proud of him,” Barnes said in his post-game interview. “When I came down the floor before he inbounded the ball, he said, I got you, Scott. Trust me. Came down the floor, drove the ball, passed him, and he made the shot. I trust my boy. The shot went in. Game seven, baby.”
Barnes was a workhorse for the Raptors the entire game. He played 48 minutes in the overtime thriller, scoring 25 points and dishing out 14 assists in the win while shooting over 50% from the field. Barrett had 24 points and nine rebounds, but he struggled shooting from the outside, making only three of his eleven attempts before the game-winner. Still, the star forward came through with the dagger to give the Raptors the win.
Raptors guard JaKobe Walter also had 24 points for the Raptors, while do-it-all forward Collin Murray-Boyles came off the bench to add 17 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals, and three blocks. Toronto held a lead for most of the game, but a spirited comeback from the Cavaliers eventually led to the visiting team forcing overtime. Toronto barely outscored the Cavs in overtime 8-6.
Game 7 will be played on Sunday in Cleveland. Can the Raptors finally get their first road win of this series and advance to the second round?
