Rangers’ Wyatt Langford dealing with quad injury, but there is some good news
The Texas Rangers got dealt a tough injury blow when outfielder Wyatt Langford suffered a quad strain on Friday. Langford had just hit a home run in the team’s game that day against the Los Angeles Dodgers, when he knew something was wrong. He is getting an injury update.
“Wyatt Langford said he has a “small strain” in his quad. He thinks he’ll be down just 2-3 days, maybe pinch hit tomorrow, but he’ll avoid the injured list now,” Dallas Morning News reporter Shawn McFarland posted to X, formerly Twitter.
Langford could tell something was wrong as he was running the bases after his homer.
“I think it was on the swing when I hit the home run, I guess I kind of reached down to get it,” Langford said, per MLB.com. “And when I started jogging, I just kind of felt tight. Not bad at all originally.”
Texas is 7-7 on the campaign.
Wyatt Langford hopes to be back as soon as possible
Langford was frustrated by the injury. He was happy to see his first home run of the season.
“It’s always good to hit a home run,” he said. “But I definitely wasn’t as happy as I normally would be when I hit a home run. I knew it didn’t feel right when I was running around the bases.”
Langford has dealt with injuries quite a bit the last few seasons.
“Langford has missed time in each of his two seasons in the big leagues, including three oblique-related IL stints last season. He played 134 games in both 2024 and ‘25 and staying healthy is a key as he looks to take another step forward in 2026,” MLB.com reported.
This season, the outfielder is hitting at a .170 batting average. He has one home run and three RBIs, with a stolen base. Langford is seen as one of the team’s top young players.
Texas plays the Dodgers again on Sunday afternoon.
