Premier League outright betting markets with bet365: Man Utd most backed to win the title
The new Premier League season is just days away with reigning champions Arsenal taking on newly-promoted Coventry on Friday night.
The Gunners finally got over the line and claimed the Premier League title after three years of coming second – banishing their nearly men status.
But are Mikel Arteta’s men being backed to go retain their crown?
As we hurtle towards to start of the new campaign, we’ve delved into the data with bet365’s Steve Freeth giving talkSPORT the full breakdown of the outright betting markets including, title winners, top four, relegation market and if anyone can outscore Erling Haaland this season?
Here’s what he’s had to say…

To Win Outright
The data across singles placed for the To Win Outright market suggests a real support for Manchester United this season. What is surprising is that the UK punters are siding with Tottenham over their North London rivals.
Arsenal’s short odds might have impacted the backing, but it will be welcome reading for Spurs fans. We had to stretch this to the “Top Six” from the data too given that shades of Leicester City backing a decade ago, but for Coventry this time.
bet365’s Steve Freeth said: “It was hard not to be impressed by Arsenal’s demolition of Manchester City, and they are proving hugely popular with bet365 customers placing outright multiple wagers. However, those looking for a bigger price have been backing Manchester United and Chelsea, with the pair accounting for 17.1% and 16.7% of the singles business, respectively.”
UK Top 6 (Singles) Man United – 17.01% Chelsea – 16.65% Tottenham – 11.98% Arsenal – 10.34% Liverpool – 7.88% Coventry – 6.37%

To Be Relegated
The UK data suggests there is concern for Man City, but the greatest worry is for Newcastle given the sale of some of their star players, and the arrival of Matthias Jaissle after Eddie Howe’s exit.
bet365’s Steve Freeth said: “The three promoted teams are expected to find it difficult, but we have seen some eye-catching turnover away from the accumulator business. It has been a challenging summer for Newcastle, with significant changes both on and off the pitch, and we have seen noticeable UK interest in the Tyneside club, with their odds for the drop tumbling from 40/1 to 8/1, taking 46.8% of the UK market.”
UK Top 5 (Singles) Newcastle – 46.8% Man City – 23.9% Hull – 6.9% Fulham – 4.2% Tottenham – 3.0%

Outright Top Goalscorer
UK customers are speculating that Erling Haaland could be laboured by the lack of Pep Guardiola on the touchline. Either that, or he’s such a favourite for the accolade that it’s worth a look elsewhere for value. Joao Pedro and Alexander Isak are both backed to thrive under new management.
UK Top 5 (Singles) Joao Pedro – 20.2% Alexander Isak – 11.7% Benjamin Sesko – 8.9% Viktor Gyokeres – 6.3% Erling Haaland – 5.5%

Top Four Finish
It looks like more speculative shouts have also been selected across singles for the Top Four market by UK customers.
Tottenham lead the charge when it comes to the UK punter backing, with 12.2% looking at Arsenal to seemingly guarantee them a win from their bet. Chelsea are shortly behind, but it’s neck and neck for teams in the North, with Newcastle backed to perform under new management and Sunderland supported in their ability to juggle European nights.
bet365’s Steve Freeth said: “What is noticeable at home is the unwillingness to back Liverpool at odds-on to finish in the Top 4 under Andoni Iraola. Spurs are certainly popular, having been backed from 11/2 to 3/1, and Chelsea are seeing similar support under Xabi Alonso.”
UK Top 5 (Singles) Spurs – 36.7% Arsenal – 12.2% Chelsea – 12.1% Newcastle – 6.0% Sunderland – 6.0%
