Pelicans officially open coaching search with James Borrego twist

After firing Willie Green during the season, the New Orleans Pelicans made James Borrego the interim head coach. There was uncertainty if he would keep the job beyond this season, but it looks like the Pelicans will have a coaching search that includes Borrego, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

“BREAKING: The Pelicans, after concluding a 26-56 season, will open a coaching search that includes interim coach James Borrego as a candidate, league sources tell [Jake Fischer] and me. New Orleans joins Milwaukee on the list of NBA teams that has commenced a coaching search,” Stein wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
