Tim Hasselbeck’s issue with Joe Burrow’s place on ESPN’s QB executive survey
Cincinnati Bengals star Joe Burrow is widely viewed as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Not only do fans believe that, but executives around the league made that clear on Monday thanks to ESPN’s executive survey results. However, former quarterback Tim Hasselbeck took issue with Burrow’s placement amongst the rankings.
During a segment on “NFL on ESPN,” Hasselbeck questioned why executives ranked the 29-year-old signal-caller as the fourth-best quarterback in the NFL. While he admitted that Burrow is extremely talented, Hasselbeck believes that the lack of availability should drop the Bengals star down in the rankings.
“I think Joe Burrow is way too high,” Hasselbeck said. “He’s been in the league six years; he’s started every game in the regular season just three times. That’s half. So, to think he’s in this rarefied area inside the top five with guys [who] consistently play at an MVP level that are always seemingly available, that’s really surprising to me…
“You have to get to the point where you’re available… To me, I don’t think you can have [Burrow] inside the top five when it’s a 50/50 proposition whether or not he’s gonna start every game through that season.”
“When Burrow is on, he’s on. … But you have to get to the point that you’re available. … To me I don't think you can have him in the top 5."@tthasselbeck on Joe Burrow being ranked too high on ESPN's survey of NFL executives, coaches and scouts

Joe Burrow has missed 22 total games in his career due to injuries. The six-year veteran missed six games in his rookie year (2020-21) due to a season-ending knee injury. After two consecutive years playing every game in the regular season, Burrow missed seven contests due to a wrist injury in the 2023-24 campaign. Then, just this last season, the three-time Pro Bowler was limited to eight games (missing nine) because of turf toe.
ESPN’s executive survey has Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, and Matthew Stafford as the only quarterbacks ranked ahead of Burrow. Lamar Jackson, Dak Prescott, Justin Herbert, Drake Maye, Jared Goff, and Caleb Williams round out the top 10.
