Lynx’s Napheesa Collier shares eye-opening claim on playing with Olivia Miles

Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier has picked up right where she left off since returning from an ankle injury. She missed the first few weeks of the season before making her comeback in late July.

Collier’s return only made the Lynx even scarier, with Olivia Miles already running rings around opponents in her rookie year, along with the consistent play of Natasha Howard and Kayla McBride.

Minnesota has maintained its league-leading record for the entirety of the season. The team is 9-2 with Collier in action. When asked about her biggest adjustment since her comeback, the 29-year-old forward pointed to her spitfire teammate.

“I think the biggest adjustment has been Liv. I’ve never played with a player like her before. I’ve played with similar people. We’re all very hardworking, we’re all very system-based, but just the way that Liv plays, she can attack in so many different ways. Her passing ability,” said Collier in a video posted by Lynx reporter Andrew Dukowitz.

“I’ve never played with a player like that. So that is an adjustment. It’s a really fun adjustment, but it’s just something I’ve never done before.”

The 23-year-old Miles is a shoo-in to win Rookie of the Year and even has a chance to be named MVP. She has lived up to the hype of being the No. 2 pick, giving the Lynx more scoring and playmaking with her quickness, fire, and fearlessness.

Collier, for her part, has been a steadying force as usual. The four-time All-WNBA is averaging 18.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.4 steals. She is shooting 50.7% from the field, including 47.5% from long distance.

While her scoring has dipped since she has to share the ball with Miles, Collier probably does not mind, as the Lynx have a strong chance to win the championship for the first time since 2017.
