Tottenham submit plans to make major change to stadium with work to start mid-season
Tottenham Hotspur plan to cover the roof of its swanky stadium with 3,770 solar panels.
In a planning document submitted to the London Borough of Haringey, the solar panels would be distributed across the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium roof.

However, there would be exclusion zones in sections of the north and south stands.
Each solar panel is expected to generate 435W of energy, meaning that with 3,770 solar panels to be installed, a whopping 1.64MW of energy will be produced.
The startling figure is equivalent to powering up to 850 homes each year.
When will the solar panels be fully fitted?
Work on the installation of the solar panels is set to commence in September and will continue for three months, meaning the whole process should be complete by the end of 2026.
The addition of solar panels comes over seven years after Spurs first moved in to their new stadium, having previously played at White Hart Lane.
It boasts a capacity of 62,850 and hosts a wide variety of events outside of football, including concerts and NFL games.
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will also be home for a number of new faces who have all joined the club this summer.
Major personnel changes in north London
In manager Roberto De Zerbi‘s first transfer window as Spurs boss, the club has already brought in a whopping six players.
Martin Dubravka, Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have all joined on free transfers from Burnley, Liverpool and Bournemouth respectively.
Jan Paul van Hecke then became the first to arrive for a sizeable fee, with Spurs forking out £52million to Brighton for the Dutch international.

Spurs then broke their transfer record with the £85m capture of Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United.
But that figure was shattered just days later when Sandro Tonali moved from Newcastle for an eye-watering £100m.
The sizeable summer spend to date comes following consecutive 17th-place finishes in the Premier League.
Spurs only secured their top flight safety on the final day of the 2025/26 season, finishing above West Ham by just two points.
The dismal placing means De Zerbi’s side will have no European football to contend with either, meaning they can fully focus their attention on a vastly improved Premier League campaign.
Spurs will kick off the 2026/27 Premier League season away to Brentford on August 22.
