Mets’ Juan Soto gets ‘best bat in the game’ nod from former Yankees teammate

The New York Mets contain a generational hitter. Juan Soto isn’t just a power-hitting outfielder with a clutch gene; he has the eyes of a hawk and the ability to get on base in every single at-bat/matchup. It doesn’t matter who the pitcher is; Soto is a threat to get on base. He walks more than anyone in the game, and his Soto-Shuffle puts fear into the eyes of opposing pitchers.

Soto is now in his second season with the Mets, earning his first All-Star appearance with his new squad. Soto has now been an All-Star for four different teams, and he is only 27 years old. Soto is also a 6-time Silver Slugger and 4-time All-MLB player. Not to mention, he won a World Series in 2019 with the Washington Nationals. The slugger has earned the right to be called one of the best hitters in the game.

Soto only spent one season with the New York Yankees, where he was an All-Star. His former Yankees teammate Cody Bellinger, who is an All-Star along with Soto in 2026, said on Monday that Soto is, in fact, the “best bat in the game”

“Juan Soto: Best bat in the game. Consistent at-bat every single game. He’s so good, man.”

Soto has missed some time this season with an injury, but in 78 games, the lefty is hitting .290 with 21 home runs, 51 RBIs, 55 walks, and owns an OPS of .967, third in the league behind Yordan Alvarez, James Wood, and Ben Rice. It’s a bummer that Soto is not in the Home Run Derby, though he won it in 2022 before leaving the Nationals, just as Bryce Harper did.
