Will Dawkins reveals Anthony Davis’ interest level in staying with Wizards

As Washington Wizards star Anthony Davis has been in trade rumors this entire offseason, the team has been operating under the assumption that the 33-year-0ld will be a major part of the franchise this upcoming year. While rumors are likely to continue regarding the Wizards and Davis, general manager Will Dawkins would speak about how the star feels about wanting to stay with the team.

Speaking to SiriusXM NBA Radio, Dawkins would be asked about the rumors around Davis, with the Washington general manager downplaying all of it, saying that the star wants to be with the team. 

“We kind of don’t worry too much about that stuff. Like AD’s in D.C. and wants to be in D.C., we’re going to keep them there. I think the important thing for us is just building on the summer and kind of making sure we’re ready to go at the beginning of the year,” Dawkins said.

“And he was out here with all of our guys,” Dawkins continued. “We had every single one of our team members here for game one. So we had all 17 guys on the roster here, and he was a big part of what we had going on, working out, leading the group workouts for our veteran players. So it’ll be a fun summer. Obviously, we’ll have a conversation when we’re allowed to officially have a conversation. But the plan is to be big and to be strong and to be skilled.”

At any rate, it remains to be seen if Davis stays with the Wizards or not, as he has yet to make his debut in a uniform, as after being traded mid-season from the Dallas Mavericks, he sat out the rest of the season with injuries.
