Good Good Golf steps away as sponsor from November PGA Tour event amid controversy
Good Good Golf has withdrawn as the title sponsor of a PGA Tour event in Austin following backlash over a controversial advertisement for a new Callaway driver, the company announced Thursday.
The tournament, scheduled for Nov. 12-15 as part of the FedExCup Fall, was originally named the Good Good Championship. It will still be held at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa’s Fazio Canyons course, while the PGA Tour determines new sponsorship plans.
The decision comes after Good Good faced widespread criticism over an advertisement created in collaboration with Callaway. The video showed Good Good co-founder Garrett Clark shoving a woman to the ground after she reached for his new Callaway driver, followed by the line, “Do not touch my new driver.” The advertisement was later removed, and Good Good said the portrayal was not consistent with its brand values.
Good Good apologized for the advertisement, while Clark posted an apology video and said the marketing team was responsible for the concept. The company also explained that the commercial was intended as a skit inspired by the 2026 horror film “Obsession.”
The controversy has led to consequences beyond the PGA Tour sponsorship. Callaway ended its three-year relationship with Good Good effective immediately and announced a $1 million commitment to organizations focused on preventing violence against women, supporting survivors, and promoting education and awareness. Callaway also said an investigation was underway into how the advertisement received approval.
Other Good Good partnerships have also been affected. Golf Channel postponed the return of its reality competition series “Big Break,” which had been connected to the brand, after presenting sponsor Golf Galaxy wanted its branding removed. Golf Galaxy and PGA Tour Superstore also stopped selling Good Good products, while Dick’s Sporting Goods removed the brand’s apparel from its stores and website.
Good Good, founded as a YouTube channel in 2020, has grown to more than 2.1 million subscribers and expanded into apparel, golf accessories and equipment. The company’s planned PGA Tour title sponsorship is now another casualty of the fallout, with the November tournament continuing under a new sponsorship arrangement.
