Paul McCartney turned down Netflix roast after Kevin Hart and Tom Brady’s brutal specials

Despite the past successes of Netflix’s roasts of Tom Brady and, more recently, stand-up legend Kevin Hart, it’s unlikely fans will ever see singer-songwriter Paul McCartney take part in one.

Jeff Ross, who recently participated in Hart’s roast and is known as the “Roastmaster General,” told Variety that they asked McCartney about doing one, calling it a “fantasy roast.” However, he understandably turned them down.

“We did ask Paul McCartney at one point. To me, that would be a fantasy roast. Paul McCartney doesn’t need anything, but a Paul McCartney roast would be good for the world. It would be so funny to me because he is so loved.”

While Hart was the guest of honor for Netflix’s latest roast, there were other names in contention. Will Smith was one of the names thrown around.

Brady was the first to be ridiculed during one of Netflix’s roasts. It got deeply personal very quickly, and that set the tone for the rest of them.

The Roast of Kevin Hart was held during the 2026 Netflix Is a Joke Festival on Sunday, May 11. It was held at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, and was hosted by Shane Gillis.

Several celebrities appeared during the roast, including Hart’s co-star in several projects, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Brady got his revenge for his roast a couple of years earlier by taking to the stand as well.

It’s unknown who the subject of the next Netflix roast will be. Fans shouldn’t expect it to be McCartney, but perhaps Smith will do one eventually.

McCartney is a couple of weeks away from the release of his 21st studio album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane. The album has been preceded by two singles, “Days We Left Behind” and “Home to Us.”
