Paul George hints 76ers offense wasn’t as bad as it looked in Game 1
The Philadelphia 76ers were not their best selves in Game 1 against the Boston Celtics, as they lost 123-91. From the beginning of the game until the end, the 76ers couldn’t find a rhythm, and they were fighting from behind throughout. The offense was not very effective, as they shot 39% from the field and only made four of their 23 attempts from the 3-point line.
Though on paper it didn’t look like anything could go right, Paul George offered a different perspective on what he thought the offense did.
“I thought we had a lot of good looks. I thought we turned down some shots, but we also had a lot of good looks,” George said via Ky Carlin of the Sixers Wire.

The offense will definitely look bad when you’re not making shots, but when you’re getting good looks, and they’re not falling, you can have confidence that they’ll eventually go down.
The 76ers haven’t been the best team from the 3-point line in the second half of the season, and that can’t continue in a series against the Celtics, who will take advantage of those misses. It will be up to players such as George and Tyrese Maxey to set the tone and start knocking down shots, but also creating shots for their teammates.
Getting off to a better start will also be key for the 76ers, as they were out of sorts in the first quarter. The Celtics were quick to take advantage of that, and they never looked back.
If the 76ers get the looks next game that George claims they were getting in Game 1, but they go in, it may be a different story for them.
