Team USA star posts most American video ever while celebrating Presidents Cup pick

These are just a few things All-American Chris Gotterup will look to channel at this month’s Presidents Cup.

Gotterup, a three-time winner on the PGA Tour this season, was Brandt Snedeker’s first captain’s pick for Team USA for the upcoming event at Medinah.

Gotterup just missed out on being an automatic qualifier for the home team but was an easy selection for Snedeker.

And the 27-year-old from Washington wasted no time in celebrating his place on the roster.

Gotterup took to social media to post a video of himself playing golf alongside snippets of some all out Americana. 

The video includes a wide array of clips including great white sharks, grizzly bears, Nascar crashes, a T-Rex, Star Wars, Transformers and of course, a bald eagle.

It also includes the famous ‘now watch this drive’ quote from former US President George Bush before switching to Gotterup unleashing one his trademark 185mph ball speed tee shots.

Team USA fans were quick to lap it all up.

One posted: “Chris, I was not familiar with your game. Hell yeah.”

Another added: “Lead us to the promised land, father.”

A third said: “Inject this to my veins!”

Gotterup is currently ranked seventh in the world and won the Sony Open, Phoenix Open and John Deere Classic this year.

He will be a rookie at the Presidents Cup but narrowly missed out for a pick for the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black last year.

Captain Snedeker said: “I have been watching Chris closely all season and it’s an understatement to say he has worked incredibly hard for this opportunity. 

“His performance on the course speaks for itself in results but further than that, he is fearless. He embraces big stages and has showed he can contend against the best players in the world. 

“This is a well-deserved milestone in his career and I’m excited to see what he can bring to the team.”

Gotterup was joined by veterans Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay in receiving picks from Snedeker.

Jacob Bridgeman, who won the Genesis Invitational earlier this year, also made the team as did 21-year-old Jackson Koivun.

Koivun have only played six professional events but won the 3M Open in July and made the FedExCup play-offs.

Snedeker added: “It’s rare to see a player this young demonstrate the level of poise and confidence that Jackson has, even before turning professional. 

“We’ve had the opportunity to speak on several occasions, and his maturity and work ethic have always stood out. 

“He’s already proven he can win on the biggest stage in golf on the PGA Tour, and I’m excited to watch him perform in his first team event.”

The six picks join the six automatic qualifiers in Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Young, Wyndham Clark, Sam Burns, Russell Henley and Collin Morikawa.

The 2026 Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club in Illinois will get underway on Thursday, September 24.
