Axed ESPN analysts reunite and form new NFL show to rival network after layoffs
Several former ESPN faces will reunite for a new show in a bid to rival ESPN’s takeover of the NFL.
Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports reports that Trey Wingo is officially getting the old ‘NFL Live’ crew back together.
Wingo will reunite with Merril Hoge, Damien Woody and Mark Schlereth to launch ‘The OG Football Show.’.
The program is set to debut on September 7 with a kickoff show that will preview the upcoming 2026 season.
Following this, the show is set to air every Monday, and will recap the four best games from Sunday’s slate.
It will run through Super Bowl LXI, hosted at SoFI Stadium, before going dark in the offseason.

Wingo will serve as the show’s anchor, and the three ex-players will give their analysis.
The announcement comes weeks after Wingo had teased something was in the works on social media when responding to a fan.
An image of Hoge on X, had circulated with the caption praising his “No bulls***” broadcasting career.
“What if I told you. We were putting the band back together?” Wingo reponded.
“Stay tuned…” he added in the comment section, before posting a link to The Wingo Network on Youtube.
During their shared prime on NFL Live, Wingo and Hoge earned widespread respect for delivering straightforward, X’s-and-O’s football analysis.
Wingo was with the network for more than two decades before they decided not to renew his contract in 2020.
He would launch his digital media endeavour, ‘The Wingo Network’ which has 53.k subscribers on YouTube and will be the new home of ‘The OG Football Show’.
Hoge was laid off by ESPN in 2017, in a similar wave of cuts the network have since made after acquiring NFL Network for $3bn.
Woody was a part of ESPN’s recent layoffs, and chose not to appear on the network through the end of August.
Before joining ESPN in 2011, Woody was two-time Super Bowl winning offensive lineman with the New England Patriots.
He also suited up for the Detroit Lions, and New York Jets across his 12-year NFL career.
At the end of his Schlereth’s NFL career, where he won three Super Bowls, he became a mainstay at ESPN for 16 years before joining FOX Sports.
