Ravens’ Marlon Humphrey wants to ‘free’ arrested fake 49ers player

A bizarre fraud scheme led to the arrest of a man who falsely posed as a player of the San Francisco 49ers to scam more than two dozen women.

Daejon Love, 35, was nabbed on August 24 in Boise, Idaho, along with his accomplice, Taylor Jamie Chan, 18. They were charged with wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. They pocketed approximately $1.3 million from their audacious fraud scheme, which began in 2022.

While Love is being slammed, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey, oddly enough, came to his aid and appeared to pin the blame on the 26 victims.

“What crime has he truly committed? They say he had fake documents. From my understanding, and it might be a lack thereof, this was a conversation. I say, free Daejon!” said Humphrey on his podcast.

“He’s basically going to jail for lying. One of my teammates said he (Love) told somebody, ‘I can 10x you in four days.’ Come on, how can you believe that?”

Love pretended to play for the 49ers, including posting photos and videos of himself wearing team gear, to attract women on dating apps. He developed romantic relationships with them and convinced them to give him money for non-existent investment opportunities.

“We don’t know his story. We haven’t let him speak yet,” added Humphrey.

“I don’t know how deep he went down the rabbit hole with scamming. I will be honest. But I feel like you should not go to jail for lying. Free Daejon, man!”

Chan, for his part, pretended to be Love’s financial adviser.

He and Love remain in federal custody as the case moves forward.

Meanwhile, Humphrey is entering his 10th season with the Ravens. Last year, he logged 68 total tackles, one sack, 13 passes defended, four interceptions, and two forced fumbles.
