Padres’ Xander Bogaerts drops admission after walk-off grand slam vs. Rockies
The San Diego Padres defeated the Colorado Rockies 7-3 on Thursday night. The final score does not reveal how competitive the game was, however. The score was 3-3 heading into the bottom of the 12th inning before Padres star Xander Bogaerts connected on a walk-off grand slam.

After the game, Bogaerts addressed his big swing, via MLB.com.
“Get the ball in the air,” Bogaerts said of his mindset heading into the at-bat. “Get a good pitch to get in the air, it was a good pitch for the pitcher… Put a good swing on it and off the bat I knew it was gone so it was nice.”
Bogaerts later added that the swing was probably his “best of the year.”
It was certainly a thrilling contest in San Diego. Mason Miller pitched well in the ninth inning which helped to send the game to extras. The teams traded runs in the 10th and 11th before Bogaerts sent the San Diego fans home happy with the huge walk-off grand slam.
The win pushed the Padres above the .500 mark. San Diego now holds a 7-6 overall record this season. The team has yet to play well on a consistent basis, but Thursday’s win has the potential to be a crucial momentum boost. Bogaerts had struggled for the most part before his clutch moment on Thursday, so perhaps he will get back on track now as well.
The Padres will continue their four-game series with the Rockies on Friday night at 9:40 PM EST in San Diego.
