Packers’ Matt LaFleur deflects Josh Jacobs arrest question with savvy RB pivot

On Tuesday, Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested in Wisconsin of five domestic violence-related charges. Jacobs reportedly turned himself in to the police in the wake of the charges being announced, and the team has since put out a statement confirming their awareness of the situation.

At practice on Wednesday, head coach Matt LaFleur (kind of) addressed the situation during his media availability.

“I know there are a lot of questions about Josh. I’m going to stick with the statement that we put out as an organization and just let the process play out,” said LaFleur, per Ryan Wood of USA Today on X, formerly Twitter.

He also spoke on his outlook of the running back room in Green Bay as a whole.

“I like the guys that we have, but certainly, you can never have enough, that’s for sure,” he added.

At this point, it’s far too early to tell how the legal situation will play out with Jacobs, and what a potential suspension or other discipline might look like from the NFL, if any occurs.

Jacobs has been a bit up and down thus far in his Packers tenure, but is still a talented running back who can also be used as a receiving threat on occasion, making him an important piece of the Green Bay offense next to Jordan Love.

The Packers are looking to build off last year’s playoff loss to the divisional rival Chicago Bears. Their 2026 season is slated to get underway in early September.
