Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton shares ‘exciting’ update amid injury recovery

Tyrese Haliburton’s recovery continues to trend in the right direction, with the Indiana Pacers star providing an encouraging update after a challenging year marked by both a torn Achilles and a battle with shingles.

Speaking to local reporters during his Simple Truth Basketball ProCamp, Haliburton said he is feeling healthy again after suffering a torn Achilles in Game 7 of last year’s NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He also referenced overcoming a recent bout with shingles, which caused noticeable swelling in his face.

In a video shared by Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files via X, formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday, Haliburton expressed optimism about his progress.

“I feel great. You see I have eyebrows now so thankful for that. I looked back at videos of me and I can see how swollen my face is and I’m just glad that’s past me now. I feel great. Body feels great. I’m able to do everything. I feel like I’m operating like I’m a healthy NBA player.”

Haliburton also reflected on how meaningful it was to participate in the camp without restrictions as he continues working his way back toward an NBA return.

“The fact that I’m able to come here without having to answer questions from the organization or anybody about my health… I’m just able to jump in and do the things with the kids. That means the world to me, it’s something I don’t take for granted after the last 12 months. So, very thankful to be here and have a lot of fun.”

The 25-year-old endured a difficult stretch after helping lead the Pacers to the NBA Finals for the first time in 25 years. Indiana ultimately fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder in seven games, with Haliburton suffering the devastating Achilles injury early in the decisive Game 7. During his recovery, he also dealt with shingles, temporarily sidelining portions of his rehabilitation before recently returning to full activity.

Without their All-Star point guard, the Pacers endured a dramatic regression, finishing the 2025-26 season 19–63 as the No. 14 seed in the Eastern Conference. Indiana will now look to build around a healthier roster heading into the 2026–27 campaign after acquiring center Ivica Zubac at the trade deadline, with Haliburton’s latest update providing another encouraging sign as the franchise looks to rebound.
