Oklahoma State football closing in on North Texas’ Eric Morris as next head coach
The Oklahoma State football program is one of several looking for new head coaches for 2026. The Cowboys appear to be closing in on their man. North Texas coach Eric Morris is expected to be the next Oklahoma State coach, per ESPN.
“Morris is set to coach out UNT’s remaining games, including both a potential American Conference title game appearance and CFP bid,” Pete Thamel posted to X, formerly Twitter.
Morris has led the North Texas program since 2023. He also was the head coach at Incarnate Word, and worked as an assistant at Texas Tech.
Oklahoma State fired Mike Gundy after a rough start to the 2025 season, including a blowout loss to Oregon.
