Dan Orlovsky urges Browns fans to boycott games in unhinged rant after Deshaun Watson decision

Dan Orlovsky did not hold back after the Cleveland Browns named Deshaun Watson their starting quarterback over Shedeur Sanders.

During Monday’s edition of ESPN’s First Take, Orlovsky expressed disbelief over Cleveland’s decision and sympathy for a fan base that has endured years of instability at quarterback.

“I am shocked. I feel awful for the fans of the Cleveland Browns,” Orlovsky said.

He then took his criticism considerably further by encouraging Browns supporters to boycott the team’s games.

“I am being dead serious. Browns fans should not go to games,” Orlovsky added.

It was an extreme reaction, but Orlovsky is hardly alone in questioning Cleveland’s direction. Watson has struggled to provide the consistent quarterback play the Browns expected when they acquired him. Naming him the starter again places even more pressure on the veteran to prove he can still lead a competitive offense.

Meanwhile, Sanders represents the more intriguing option for many fans. Starting the younger quarterback would provide Cleveland with an opportunity to evaluate whether he can become a long-term answer at the position.

The Browns may believe Watson gives them their best chance to win immediately, but that reasoning will not quiet the criticism. If the offense struggles early, calls for Sanders will only become louder.

Orlovsky’s boycott suggestion may be excessive, but his frustration reflects the mood surrounding the organization. Cleveland has made its decision. Now, Watson and the Browns must prove it was the right one.

Knowing the history of this franchise, the term “right” doesn’t really exist.
