Nuggets’ Cam Johnson makes his pick for Finals MVP between Knicks, Spurs

The New York Knicks return home to the friendly confines of Madison Square Garden with a comfortable two games to none series lead in the NBA Finals over the San Antonio Spurs, with Game 3 looming on Monday evening.

Because the Denver Nuggets were eliminated in the opening round of the NBA Playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves, forward Cam Johnson can only watch from afar, but he’s letting fans in on who he believes the NBA Finals MVP will be when the series is all said and done. According to Johnson, Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns should take home the award.

“He’s their MVP at this point, for me, of the Finals,” Johnson said via OldManAndThree on X. “He’s been great, and in these two games, he’s been great. Like, he has a very difficult task. You know, he’s not the only one that they put on Wemby, but it’s a very difficult defensive assignment, and offensively, like, he’s asserting himself but not anywhere outside the confines of what he’s supposed to be doing. Spare maybe one deep three yesterday – like, everything he got was easy baskets that he created, or created baskets in flow. And you know, 21-13-4 on 8-of-12, that alone is a huge reason why they won the game. And so just the unselfishness, he’s a big part of how connected they are…he’s a big part of that.”

Through the first two games of the NBA Finals, Karl-Anthony Towns has averaged 19.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists, helping his club grab a commanding two game series lead.

Game 3 of the NBA Finals will begin Monday at 8:30 p.m. ET from Madison Square Garden in New York.
