USC football’s Jayden Maiava connects with Trent Mosley for a Tinseltown touchdown

USC football didn’t waste any time bringing the fireworks to United Airlines Field at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and freshman wide receiver Trent Mosley is rapidly turning into Jayden Maiava’s favorite target.

Leading the Fresno State Bulldogs early in the second quarter, Maiava dropped back to pass from his own 32-yard line. The junior quarterback loaded up and launched a deep dime downfield, connecting with Mosley in stride. The freshman wideout pulled down the pass and used his dynamic footwork to freeze a Fresno State defensive back, cruising into the end zone for a breathtaking 68-yard touchdown. The explosive score extended 14th-ranked USC’s lead to 13-0 and had the Los Angeles crowd on its feet.

The 68-yard strike marked a major moment for Mosley, who has made an immediate splash in the Trojans’ high-powered offense. Coming off a touchdown catch in USC’s season-opening win over the San Jose State Spartans, the true freshman wideout now has two touchdowns in his first two games as a Trojan.

Maiava looked completely in command under center, taking advantage of a clean pocket to slice through the Bulldogs’ secondary.
