Nuggets’ Cam Johnson fires back at Jaden McDaniels’ ‘bad defender’ comments

Every time the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves get together, there’s a chance that the matchup could turn out to be must-watch television. That’s how it’s been for the first two games of their first-round series, and it’s only going to get better as they head to Minnesota. After the Nuggets’ loss in Game 2, the Timberwolves had a lot to say about their opponent, more specifically, Jaden McDaniels.

The Timberwolves’ forward was asked what the mindset was for his team in Game 2, and was very blunt.

“Go at (Nikola) Jokic, Jamal (Murray), all the bad defenders. Tim Hardaway, Cam Johnson, Aaron Gordon, their whole team. Just go at them. Yeah, they’re all bad defenders,” McDaniels said via Chris Hines of The Minnesota Star Tribune.

“They don’t have people who can defend the rim,” Daniels continued. “If they have, we’re still more athletic than they are. We just gotta be able to finish what we do.”

Of course, those types of comments start making the airwaves, and everybody hears the chatter. The Nuggets have heard the comments, and Cameron Johnson had a response that insinuated that he didn’t care much about what Daniels had to say.

“They just been saying a lot. All season, all series. Let them talk. Let them get everything they want off their chest. We’re cool with it,” Johnson said.

Aaron Gordon was also another player who was asked about Daniels’ comments. He was another player who wasn’t bothered.

“Brother, I do not care,” Gordon said in response.

Daniels is already on the Nuggets’ bad side after he pushed Nikola Jokic in the back during Game 1, and Gordon was the first player there to defend his teammate.

These types of things are only going to continue to happen throughout the series, and all it’s going to do is make the games more exciting.
