North Carolina’s Bill Belichick earns respect around CFB world with huge win vs. TCU

The North Carolina Tar Heels earned a 15-10 Week 0 win over the TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday, marking the program’s first win of the new season. It was a big victory, as it’s the first step for Bill Belichick and his team to leave the ugly 2025-26 campaign in the rearview mirror.

Nearly the entire college football world shared their reaction to the win on social media. Many patted Belichick on the back, giving the 74-year-old head coach credit for leading North Carolina to an upset win over TCU.

“Honestly, good for Bill Belichick. Young fella just needed a year in college football to get his feet wet. Hopefully he will have a long and storied CFB career,” Brandon Walker of Barstool Sports said.

Josh Pate claimed, “Bill Belichick is ACC COY right now.”

“And just like that, Bill Belichick has flipped college football on its head,” Will Compton stated.

Nicole Auberback said, “Bill Belichick gets the win over TCU in Ireland. That was not always pretty, but that’s a big win for UNC.”

“Some really aggressive Belichick takes out there probably needed to be walked back this week. They’re much improved and well coached. Having said that…TCU, woof,” Dan Wolken explained.

Michael Casagrande asked, “Bill Belichick might have figured out how to coach college football? A bad day [for] the rest of college football?”

Winning completely changes any narrative, especially in college football. This might be a completely different Tar Heels team this year, as North Carolina appeared to be the better team against TCU throughout.

Belichick and his Tar Heels will get a bye week for Week 1. They’ll return in Week 2 when North Carolina takes on the East Tennessee State Buccaneers for the season opener.
