Nick Nurse highlights 1 glaring issue in 76ers’ Game 2 loss to Knicks

The Philadelphia 76ers failed to steal a win on the road as they came up short against the New York Knicks, 108-102, in Game 2 at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday to fall 2-0 in their second-round series in the playoffs.

The 76ers put up a gallant stand despite missing Joel Embiid due to an ankle sprain and hip soreness. Still, they did not get the victory, and they are now in a precarious position against a surging squad.

It was a back-and-forth contest, with the Sixers showing more grit than their lackluster showing in Game 1. Their offense, however, sputtered at times, as acknowledged by coach Nick Nurse.

“I thought we had maybe four wide-open shots in a row that didn’t go. We needed to keep the scoreboard moving. We played great offense, we just didn’t shot-make,” said Nurse in the video posted by SNY.

Philadelphia shot 45% from the field, including 38% from three-point distance.

Nurse added that they tried to counter the Knicks’ defense by moving the ball, but they simply could not sink their shots.

“They’re doubling teaming, we rotated it out. It was either a wide-open corner three or a wide-open slot three. We didn’t need all five to go in, just one or two to keep the momentum going,” added Nurse, as quoted by PHLY Sports’ Derek Bodner.

Tyrese Maxey had 26 points, three rebounds, and six assists to pace the Sixers. He also had six turnovers. Paul George added 19 points, six rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks.

Game 3 shifts to Xfinity Mobile Arena on Friday.
