NFL analyst names Rams’ best offseason acquisition, and it’s not Aaron Donald, Myles Garrett
Earlier this week, the NFL world received a jolt when it was announced that future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald would be coming out of retirement to rejoin the Los Angeles Rams as they look for a Super Bowl this year. Donald joins Myles Garrett, whom the Rams acquired from the Cleveland Browns in a blockbuster trade, along what should be the best defensive front in the NFL this year.
However, recently, NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah stopped by ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show and broke down another name who he views as the biggest get for the Rams this offseason.
“They made Trent McDuffie the highest-paid corner in the NFL, and it’s like nobody even remembers that this whole thing even happened after Myles Garrett and Aaron Donald. But that was a big need for them. You think about them and Seattle, JSN in that matchup,” he said, per Pat McAfee on X, formerly Twitter.
Indeed, in the aftermath of their loss to the Seattle Seahawks in last year’s NFC Championship Game, the Rams’ defensive backfield appeared to be the team’s biggest area of need, and they certainly helped fill that void by acquiring McDuffie, one of the game’s top cornerbacks, from the Kansas City Chiefs in a massive deal.
The Rams also brought in former Chiefs defensive back Jaylen Watson to help add to that side of the ball. Of course, the trade for arguably the game’s best player in Garrett and bringing back one of the best defenders of all time in Donald understandably have taken most of the headlines in recent weeks, but in regard to Los Angeles’ biggest weakness last year, that has certainly been filled.
