NBA rumors: Could Bradley Beal make way back to Clippers amid Heat interest?
Since opting out of his $5.6 million player option for the upcoming season and entering unrestricted free agency, Bradley Beal was widely expected to be on the way out of the Los Angeles Clippers. The Miami Heat are understood to be the 33-year-old’s preferred team, with ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel claiming that the big question remains if he would be willing to accept a minimum contract to join the likes of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.
However, per Marc Stein of The Stein Line, the Clippers have not yet ruled out a return for Beal despite the injury-ravaged 2025-26 campaign, during which he played just six games. LA continue to look at Beal as a low-risk, high-upside option and may as well look to re-sign him on what is likely to be viewed as a team-friendly deal. Meanwhile, Miami has maintained interest dating back to before Beal joined the Clippers, and that interest has resurfaced now that he is back on the open market.
However, he is only one of the veteran free agents the Heat are considering combining with Giannis and Bam. Miami are understood to be looking at the likes of DeMar DeRozan and Russell Westbrook. Beal has also continued to attract interest from the Boston Celtics due to his existing relationship with Jayson Tatum, although both teams continue to be concerned about his health.
Beal averaged just 8.2 points per game last season after suffering a hip injury, but his scoring ability is under no doubt.
Regardless, Siegel recently claimed Beal’s ‘top landing spot’ remains the Heat, who are expected to sign at least one veteran after losing out on LeBron James. However, the biggest question remains financial, and Siegel suggested it is unclear whether Miami will want to use their mid-level exception to approach the kind of value Beal declined with Los Angeles.
That is especially true considering the Heat are not short on options, and have also been linked to the likes of Khris Middleton, Anfernee Simons, and Tim Hardaway Jr.
