NBA announces intriguing 2026 Mexico City Game matchup

The NBA loves going global. Basketball is one of the biggest global team sports in the world, and NBA commissioner Adam Silver will continue to have teams go international each and every season. For the 2026-27 season later this year, the league has announced that the Denver Nuggets and Indiana Pacers will meet in Mexico City for a massive matchup.

The game will be played on November 7, 2026, and it will be the 35th game played in Mexico since 1992.

“The matchup will mark the league’s 35th game in Mexico since 1992 – more than any country outside of the U.S. and Canada – and will take place during the week of traditional “Día de Muertos” (Day of the Dead) celebrations locally for the third consecutive year. The “Día de Muertos” theme will be showcased through a variety of in-arena activations during the game, including a specially themed basketball court and several fan engagement initiatives.”

“The NBA Mexico City Game continues to give fans in Mexico a front‑row connection to the league, its teams and its players. Hosting our 35th game in the country reflects the depth of the NBA’s relationship with Mexico and the role this event plays in bringing the global game to fans locally, across Latin America and around the world,” said Raul Zarraga, NBA Latin America and Canada Senior Vice President and Head of Operations.

A fully healthy Pacers and Nuggets team will have a lot of stars showcased in Mexico City, highlighted by Nikola Jokic. Jokic, Jamal Murray, Tyrese Haliburton, Pascal Siakam, and Aaron Gordon, plus more, are a great showcase for the fans.

The Nuggets take on the Minnesota Timberwolves for the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
