Multiple Cavs season-ticket holders lose seats after selling to Knicks fans
The Cleveland Cavaliers looked to stay alive and avoid a sweep in the Eastern Conference Finals as they hosted the New York Knicks in Game 4 at Rocket Arena on Monday.
The Cavaliers found themselves in a win-or-go-home position after getting embarrassed in Game 3 in front of their fans, with the Knicks inching closer to a return to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999.
With the dire situation, Cleveland needed every bit of support from their fans in Game 4. But some season-ticket holders appeared to have sold their courtside seats to Knicks supporters, including rapper Fat Joe.
Fat Joe’s ticket, however, was rescinded since the Cavaliers apparently did not allow Knicks fans at courtside, according to a report from the New York Post’s Christian Arnold. It was unclear how Fat Joe purchased his ticket.
“Fat Joe wasn’t the only Knicks fan who seemed to have their tickets revoked. At least 10 other Knicks fans with courtside seats had been called by a Cavaliers executive and told they no longer had seats, a league source told The Post,” wrote Arnold.
“After those fans were informed they no longer had courtside seats, the Cavs did relocate them to a higher section inside the arena for Game 4.”
Arnold noted that season-ticket holders with courtside seats need to seek permission from the Cavaliers before reselling them, or they will be banned.
“Playoff courtside seating is governed by a specific agreement that prohibits the resale or transfer of tickets without approval,” said the team via a spokesperson.
Knicks fans, who are known to travel to rival cities, have noticeably taken over Rocket Arena in Game 3.
As of writing, the Cavaliers are down by a huge margin in the third quarter.
