Liverpool odds: Ways to back The Reds in the 2026/27 season

Liverpool began last season as defending champions and ended it fifth, on 60 points, 25 behind Arsenal, without a trophy and without the manager who had delivered the title 12 months earlier. Arne Slot paid for the collapse with his job, and Andoni Iraola has arrived from Bournemouth on a two-year deal with a full rebuild on his hands.

The question is, how quickly can he close that gap? Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konaté and Andy Robertson have all left Anfield, and the latest Liverpool odds make The Reds third favourites rather than likely champions. Backing them to reclaim the Premier League is only one route in, though – and several of the other outright markets may return better value.

🏆 Odds on Liverpool to win the league

Heading into the new season, here is how the bookies see the Premier League shaping up:

*Odds correct as of 21st August, and are subject to change.

Arsenal head the market after ending their 22-year wait for a title, and Liverpool sit third at 11/2 – a price that expects improvement without expecting a title-winning season.

The fall was as steep as it was expensive. Liverpool spent roughly £415million in the summer of 2025, the biggest single-window outlay in European football history, and the pieces never fitted together. Florian Wirtz was handed the number 10 role he had asked for, which unpicked the midfield that had just won the league. Alexander Isak only managed three league goals after suffering a broken leg. Wirtz, Isak and Hugo Ekitiké shared just 117 minutes on the pitch together across the entire campaign.

Arsenal took full advantage, while Manchester City pushed them close in Pep Guardiola’s farewell season and Manchester United finished third under Michael Carrick. Liverpool ended up scrapping for a Champions League place they only secured because England’s coefficient earned the Premier League a fifth spot.

There is a precedent for a quick fix, mind. Slot won the title in his first season, and Iraola arrives with a serious claim on the job – he took Bournemouth to sixth, their highest-ever top-flight finish, a first European qualification in the club’s history and the longest unbeaten run in the division last season at 18 games. He now has a far better squad than the one he left behind. Whether his high-pressing system beds in quickly enough to matter is the whole bet.

On top of that, BOYLE Sports have launched a tempting season-opener, whereby you can back your Premier League champion with a £20 stake before kick-off and pocket a £5 free bet every time they win throughout August and September. It is a shrewd way to squeeze extra value from a Liverpool title punt, paying you out on every early-season victory as Iraola looks to build momentum.

🏆 How Liverpool can reclaim the Premier League crown

A 25-point gap does not close in one summer by accident. Liverpool have the squad, the spending power and now a coach whose methods are already proven in this league. Here are the reasons to believe they can.

👨‍💼 Liverpool’s current squad and manager

The departures are historic. Salah left as a free agent for Trabzonspor after nine years, Konaté joined Real Madrid on a free after 183 appearances, and Robertson went to Tottenham having made 378.

Nine players from the 2025 title-winning squad have now gone, and more may follow before the window shuts on 1 September, with Curtis Jones close to Inter Milan and Federico Chiesa and Cody Gakpo both linked with exits.

The upside is that most of what went wrong last season is fixable. Wirtz has had a year to adjust to the Premier League. Isak, whose 23 goals in 2024/25 were bettered only by Salah, has a pre-season behind him for the first time as a Liverpool player. Milos Kerkez improved as the campaign wore on, while Jeremie Frimpong and Giovanni Leoni – the latter having torn his ACL on debut – are both due full seasons.

Ekitiké’s ruptured Achilles is the lingering problem, with Conor Bradley also months away and Joe Gomez having missed most of pre-season.

Iraola is the variable. At Bournemouth he built one of the most aggressive pressing sides in the country on a fraction of this budget, and Kerkez has already played in that system. The question is whether the intensity survives a busy Champions League schedule.

The arrivals so far address the defence rather than the hole Salah leaves. Jérémy Jacquet, a 20-year-old centre-back, was agreed back in January, and Barcelona captain Ronald Araújo has since joined on a season-long loan with an option to buy at £47million next summer, covering Konaté’s exit alongside Leoni.

Víctor Muñoz was Iraola’s first signing, with the club triggering his release clause at Osasuna, and the Spain forward brings the versatility to play anywhere across the front line.

Neither replaces a player who scored 29 league goals in the title season, however. Bradley Barcola remains the marquee target and the France winger is said to be keen, but Paris Saint-Germain are asking around £130million and Liverpool are yet to lodge a formal bid. PSG’s 18-year-old Ibrahim Mbaye has emerged as the cheaper alternative.

There is a tactical wrinkle, too, as Jamie Carragher has pointed out: Barcola plays off the left, where Cody Gakpo and Wirtz already compete, which would leave Harvey Elliott as the only natural right-winger at the club.

Bournemouth’s Rayan is the preferred fallback, a 20-year-old Brazilian who flourished under Iraola on the South Coast, though the Cherries are refusing to sell. With the window shutting on 1st September, landing one of them would change how this side is priced.

🗓 Key fixtures in the 2026/27 season

Iraola could hardly have drawn a harder opener, taking his new side to Newcastle on Super Sunday. His return to Bournemouth will come around quickly on 20th September, before the run that will define the autumn: Manchester City and Arsenal visit Anfield on the 10th and 31st October respectively.

November brings Manchester United to Anfield and then a Merseyside derby at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on 28th November, with Chelsea away and Sunderland at home immediately after. Boxing Day at Hull looks kind by comparison, and Coventry visit Anfield to open 2027.

Late January into February is the second squeeze – Manchester United away, Everton at home on 30th January, then Arsenal away. The run-in reads Leeds (A), Chelsea (H), Manchester City (A), Brentford (H), Brighton (A) and Bournemouth (H), with Champions League football layered on top throughout.

Liverpool odds in other outright markets

Even if The Reds fall short of Arsenal and Manchester City, there are plenty of other ways to back Iraola’s side in outright bets this coming season.

🥇 Liverpool trophy multiples

You can back Liverpool to win two or more of the major trophies, and the FA Cup and League Cup double pays 33/1. That is the combination worth a look. Liverpool have won the League Cup a record 10 times, and Iraola’s Bournemouth built their reputation on being awkward opponents in one-off games.

This would not have landed last season. Having underperformed on every front, Liverpool bowed out disappointingly early in both the League Cup and FA Cup. They have proven they can win both competitions in recent years, but last term was a rare miss. Still, domestic cups are where a side with this much depth should be dangerous, and a new manager keen to put something in the cabinet early is unlikely to field weakened teams.

🎄 Top on Christmas Day

Eighteen of the 34 sides top of the table on Christmas Day have gone on to win the Premier League, so this market doubles as a barometer for the title race. Liverpool were nowhere near it last year, which is exactly why 4/1 looks a fair price rather than a generous one.

Their festive position will be settled by that October and November run. Beat Manchester City and Arsenal at Anfield, come through the derby and the Chelsea trip, and Liverpool will be right in the conversation by 25th December. Anything less and the top-four market becomes the more sensible home for your money.

🥇 Top North West club

Four North West clubs line up in the division this season – Liverpool, Everton, Manchester City and Manchester United – which makes this a three-horse race in practice. Liverpool are 2/1, behind City in the betting.

It would not have come in last season, with Liverpool finishing fifth behind City in second and United in third. That is the appeal, though: this is a market that only asks The Reds to get back above their local rivals rather than beat Arsenal to the title. With City adjusting to life after Guardiola and United still building under Carrick, 2/1 is a tidy way to back a Liverpool revival at a shorter, more realistic price than the outright.

🏅 Top scorer

Erling Haaland is 4/6 and a worthy favourite after 27 goals last season. Isak, at 17/2, is the Liverpool player best placed to challenge him.

The numbers from two seasons ago make the case. Isak’s 23 goals in 2024/25 came from an expected goals figure of 20.42; he registered 46 shots on target, and only Salah had more touches in the opposition box.

Last season was a write-off, with three league goals either side of a broken leg. Now he has the number nine shirt, the potential to take penalties (as he did for Newcastle) and a front line built around him rather than around Salah.

FAQs about Liverpool ahead of the 2026/27 season

1. Who are likely to become Liverpool’s key players as they aim to reclaim the Premier League title?

Isak and Wirtz. Between them they cost the thick end of £225million and delivered almost nothing last season, so the simplest route back to the top is both to play 30-plus games. Behind them, the Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai midfield that won the title in 2024/25 needs restoring to something like its old rhythm.

2. Who are likely to be Liverpool’s main rivals for the Premier League title and other domestic competitions?

Arsenal and Manchester City set the pace, with Manchester United and Chelsea also under new managers and capable of gatecrashing the top four. Aston Villa have been a fixture up there under Unai Emery too. In the cups, the traditional big six are always expected to go deep, though Newcastle and Crystal Palace have both won domestic silverware recently.

3. When are the best times to lock in the best odds for Liverpool in the markets mentioned in this article?

Before a ball is kicked, in almost every case. If Liverpool come through October with wins over Manchester City and Arsenal at Anfield, that 11/2 will shorten sharply. The counter-argument is that a slow start while a new system beds in could push them out towards 10/1, so there is a case for patience if you can stomach watching the price drift first.
