MSG erupts in chill-inducing Knicks fan video of Landry Shamet’s clutch OT 3-pointer

The New York crowd at Madison Square Garden (MSG) for the Knicks’ Game 1 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers was raucous, and they went absolutely wild when Landry Shamet hit a clutch three-pointer in overtime.

A video courtesy of Jared Schwartz showed how the MSG crowd erupted when Shamet’s shot went in. Initially, there was a collective audible gasp as the ball bounced a couple of times before going in, but the feeling of euphoria overtook the room once it went through the net.

If nothing else, this showed how locked in the Knicks fans were during the contest. This helped seal the victory for New York, as this cemented a 9-0 run to begin the overtime period.

Landry Shamet has been the Knicks’ unsung hero during their playoff run

Despite coming off the bench, Shamet has become a major part of the Knicks team in the postseason. He was quiet during the Atlanta Hawks series and the first two games against the Philadelphia 76ers, but he burst onto the scene in Game 3, scoring 15 points in 26 minutes. Shamet made five of his six shots in the game and gave New York a boost.

He followed that up with a 12-point performance in Game 4 against the Sixers. Shamet once again made 66.7% of his three-pointers in the game.

His electric three-point shooting has continued into the Eastern Conference Finals. All three of Shamet’s makes in Game 1 vs. the Cavs were three-pointers. He made 100% of his three-point shots in the game.

If the Knicks want to beat the Cavaliers, they are going to need Shamet to continue to contribute off the bench. He has been playing valuable minutes, making the most of his opportunities.

Throughout his NBA career, Shamet has been a journeyman after starting his career in Philly. He has played for the Los Angeles Clippers, the Brooklyn Nets, the Phoenix Suns, the Washington Wizards, and the Westchester Knicks before seemingly finding a home in New York.
