Missouri’s Ahmad Hardy to be released from hospital after shooting

Missouri Tigers running back Ahmad Hardy was the victim of a scary shooting incident on early Sunday morning while attending a concert in Mississippi. After undergoing surgery and quickly reaching a stable condition, Hardy gets great news just days after the incident.

Reports indicate that Hardy, who will be a junior in the 2026-27 campaign, is being released from the hospital on Tuesday, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN. Hardy is heading back to Missouri to begin his rehab process with the intent of playing for the Tigers next season.

“Sources: Star Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy is being released from the hospital today after getting shot in the upper leg on early Sunday morning,” reported Thamel. “He plans to head to Missouri’s campus immediately to begin rehabbing with the goal of playing this year.”

With Missouri’s season-opener against the AR-Pine Bluff Golden Lions scheduled for September 3, Hardy will have about three and a half months to be ready for the Tigers. He aims to continue his prolific college career, as his first two years in college football have been stellar.

Ahmad Hardy transferred to Missouri in the 2025 offseason after playing one season for the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks. He’s been a workhorse in his first two seasons playing college ball, and looks like a bona fide superstar for the NFL at some point down the road.

In his freshman year at Louisiana-Monroe, Hardy led the Sun Belt Conference in rush attempts (273), rushing yards (1,351), and touchdowns (13). Additionally, he ended his first season at Missouri with 1,640 rushing yards (led the SEC) and 16 touchdowns. He also led the SEC in yards per attempt with 6.4.
