Mike Brown reveals why Knicks must stamp out Cavs hope early in Game 4

The New York Knicks are up 3-0 over the Cleveland Cavaliers heading into Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals. With one more win, punching their ticket to The Finals, head coach Mike Brown reveals how he wants his players to approach the early portion of the contest on Monday night.

While talking with media members hours before the 8 p.m. EST tip-off, Brown claimed he doesn’t want the Knicks to give the Cavs any sort of momentum whatsoever. The 56-year-old head coach claimed that if Cleveland were to get off to a hot start in Game 4, it could lead to a dangerously long run.

“You don’t want to give them life if you can help it,” said Brown. “If you give anybody hope at this time of year, they can string that into a long run.”

The Knicks are on fire heading into Game 4 against the Cavaliers, as the club is on a 10-game winning streak dating back to the first-round series against the Atlanta Hawks, where New York won Games 4, 5, and 6 to close out that series. Mike Brown’s team impressively swept the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round and is on the verge of doing the same thing to the Cavs.

While Jalen Brunson has been amazing for the Knicks throughout the playoffs, the key to success may belong to Karl-Anthony Towns. Brown switched up the team’s strategy throughout the offseason by turning the 30-year-old center into a playmaker. KAT enters Monday’s contest averaging 16.8 points, 10.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 55.9% from the field and 45.2% from beyond the arc in the playoffs.
