Mets’ Jorge Polanco gets Achilles update, but no return date after PRP injection

The New York Mets are missing several key players due to injury, and it’s uncertain when one of them will return to the field. Jorge Polanco has been dealing with an Achilles injury, and he recently took a PRP injection. Unfortunately, his timeline to return is still up in the air, according to Will Sammon of The Athletic.

“Polanco got the PRP shot in mid-April, around the time the team was playing the Dodgers in Los Angeles. The last time Polanco appeared in a game was April 14. His timeline for a return lacks clarity,” Sammon wrote.

Polanco believes that it was the best option for him to have the injection, and the hope is that it speeds up his recovery.

“It’s made it better for me,” Polanco said. “It was an easy decision. I know the guys here. They know what they’re doing. If that is going to help me, I am willing to do it.”

Polanco has appeared in only 14 games this season and is 10-for-56 (.179) with one home run.

“It is tough to deal with, but at the same time, I can’t control that. I wish I could because then I could be on the field every day,” Polanco said. “I would feel bad about it, but what else can we do but try to stay positive, keep going and come back.”

Outside of Polanco, the Mets are also dealing with injuries to Francisco Lindor, Luis Robert Jr. and Francisco Alvarez. Lindor still doesn’t have a timetable, even though his MRI showed signs of healing. Robert is still trying to make his way back to the field, while Alvarez is on an eight-week timetable after recently having surgery.

The Mets are currently 18-25 and are in last place in the NL East.
