Mariners’ Matt Brash receives pivotal injury update on Thursday

Seattle Mariners star relief pitcher Matt Brash is dealing with right lat inflammation. The Mariners are hopeful that Brash can return sooner rather than later. At the moment, Seattle is closely monitoring Brash’s injury concern. On Thursday, an update on Brash’s injury was revealed, via Daniel Kramer of MLB.com.

“Another injury update from the Mariners… Matt Brash (right lat inflammation) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma tonight,” Kramer reported.

Brash is one of the better relievers in the sport. In 2025, he turned in a stellar 2.47 ERA across 53 games pitched. He had not allowed a run in 14 appearances in 2026 before landing on the injured list.

Brash, 28, could return soon assuming no setbacks occur. The Mariners will surely be patient during his rehab assignment, but Bash is trending in the right direction.

Seattle is hoping to find consistency as soon as possible. They were expected to make a serious run in 2026, but the ball club is just 21-23 and in third place in the American League West as of this story’s writing. Seattle is only two games back of first place, though. They are not in a bad position despite their underwhelming start to the new campaign.

It is worth noting that star catcher Cal Raleigh landed on the injured list on Thursday. Bouncing back without Raleigh amid his injury absence will be a challenge. Nevertheless, Brash will provide a pivotal boost once he returns from injury.

Updates on Matt Brash and Cal Raleigh will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available.
