Stephen A. Smith ‘disgusted’ by players dancing around external drama

As the WNBA enters the final stretch of the regular season, several outside conversations have started to fester, particularly surrounding the Indiana Fever. On the latest edition of the Stephen A. Smith Show. Smith spoke about his “disgust” with how the WNBA has handled the newfound spotlight.

Smith particularly criticized Caitlin Clark’s response to Stephanie White being booed following the team’s 106-92 victory over the New York Liberty on Tuesday evening.

“It’s tough,” Clark said on Tuesday following the game. “Like, that’s my head coach. I hated that our fans booed her before the game. That made me a little sick, to be honest. … That’s our head coach, and we’re going to ride for her and we’re always going to have her back.”

Smith responded sharply on his eponymous radio show.

“Congratulations. What a statement saying absolutely, positively nothing. See, if this were the men, we would not only be asking, we would be demanding that folks speak up and put it where the goats can get it and get down to the bare bones about what’s really going on here and not dancing around the issues.”

He then detailed his disgust and how he believes the WNBA handles external issues.

“And what disgusts me, listening to so many of these ladies talk about the issues. You’re smart, you’re articulate, you’re educated, you got facts, you got fervor and passion, you’ve got knowledge, you’ve got history backing you up. You got a whole bunch of things in your favor, along with the microphone and the lens to look into the camera and address it with the realness, the sincerity, and the passion, and the fervor it deserves. And y’all dancing.”
