Man Utd v Fulham prediction

Confidence will be high in the Manchester United camp heading into Sunday afternoon’s home clash against Fulham after back to back victories against Manchester City a fortnight ago and deliver runaway league leaders Arsenal their first home defeat of the season last time out.

Michael Carrick will be looking to make it three wins from three on Sunday afternoon since he was announced as interim manager following Ruben Amorim’s surprise sacking at the start of the month.

Consecutive wins for the Red Devils now leaves them with just one defeat in their last 11 league games, unbeaten in their last six, a run which has seen them climb into the top four in the Premier League table as they chance Champions League football next season.

The Manchester side have lost only once at Old Trafford in the league since their opening day defeat against league leaders Arsenal, however they have won only one two of their last seven home games in all competitions, a record they’ll be looking to put right on Sunday.

Fulham also head into Sunday’s crunch clash off the back of an impressive win over Brighton last weekend that saw them come from back from a goal down to secure a 92nd minute winner.

Marco Silva’s side head to Old Trafford in strong form having lost just one of their last eight Premier League matches, of which they’ve won five, with last weekend’s victory seeing them jump from the bottom half of the table into the top seven.

The Cottagers have now won three of their last four matches in all competitions and sit only four points below their opponents on Sunday and just three behind their west London rivals Chelsea in fifth place.

Fulham have won only once in the Premier League against Manchester United in the last 17 years, however the Cottagers are unbeaten in three of their last five matches with the Red Devils, and have won on two of their last three visits to Old Trafford.

There’s a new sense of enjoyment and optimism around Old Trafford since Carrick’s return to the club as interim manager, and though their team is far from the finished product and no doubt Fulham will cause them troubles, the hosts will be expected to win all three points on Sunday – I’m predicting a 2-1 home win.

Man Utd v Fulham betting tips

Hat trick of wins for Carrick

Manchester United have impressed hugely in their performances since the return of Carrick to the Old Trafford dugout, securing victories over each of the Premier League’s top two in his opening two matches, and would expect to make it a hat trick on Sunday.

Mbeumo back on the scoresheet

No player on either team has scored more goals this season than Manchester United’s Bryan Mbeumo this season, the Cameroon winger is now one away from double figures for the campaign following his strike at the Emirates last weekend.

Harrying United

Fulham’s Harry Wilson has received more yellow cards than any other player available for selection on Sunday afternoon, with four bookings in his last six league games taking him to six for the entire campaign.
